Using the site

Simple Tea Timer is free to use, for anything, including at work and in a shop or café. There is no account to create and nothing to buy. Please do not try to break it, overload it, or scrape it in a way that degrades it for other people.

The brewing guidance

The times and temperatures here follow conventional Western brewing guidance. They are a good starting point, not a rule — leaf, water, vessel and taste all move the answer. Treat them as a suggestion and adjust freely.

Making tea involves water hot enough to scald. Handling kettles, boiling water and hot vessels is your responsibility and yours alone.

No warranty

The site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. It is a browser timer: it can be interrupted by a closed tab, a sleeping laptop, a muted device or a browser that suspends background work. Do not rely on it where a missed timer matters — use a dedicated kitchen timer for anything that counts.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising out of your use of this site, including a ruined pot of tea, a missed steep, or anything that follows from relying on the timer or the guidance.

Advertising and other sites

This site carries advertising served by Google, and ads may link to third-party sites we neither control nor endorse. How that advertising handles data is set out in the privacy policy.

Content

The design, text and code of Simple Tea Timer belong to its owner. The brewing facts themselves — times, temperatures — are facts, and nobody owns those. Quote them freely; a link back is appreciated.
